Judo for Peace presented in Paris2009.02.07

International Judo Federation

The IJF Judo for Peace project, winner of the Peace and Sport award as the best project in 2008, attracted attention from the public present at the Palais Omnisport Bercy, in Paris.

The head of Judo For Peace Commission, Jan Eirik Shiotz, also attended the event.  During the two days of the French Grand Slam, pictures and information about the progress of the 12 projects were shown. These are:

Nepal – reconciliation after civil war

 

 

The Judo for Peace Program uses the philosophy of Judo in combination with the sports educating system to attain peace and reconciliation in conflict regions. Judo shall in practical action show that these sports fundaments makes this sport to be the best tools for peace keeping, reconciliation and society building.
