 Day 2 - Results
 The second day of the JUDO GRAND PRIX Qingdao 2011 offered very tight and tense fights with many ippons, from spectacular throwing techniques, especially, “Seoi Nage”. The Champions of the day are only Asiatic judoka: XU Lili (China), WANG Ki-Chun (Korea), CHEN Fei (China) and NAGASHIMA Keita (Japon).

 Women’s -63 kg. Category: The Public Favorite Takes Gold

 The winner of Women -63 kg. Category is XU Lili (China). The final offered a nail-biting contest, during which we were treated to a series of attacks and counterattacks, by the Asian Champion, XU Lili. The public favorite evetually won (wazari) the fight after a throwing technique (O Soto Gari) against TSEDEVSUREN Munkhzaya (Mongolia) earning a well-deserved Gold medal at this JUDO GRAND PRIX QINGDAO 2011.

In the first semifinal, the Bronze medalist at the World Championships Paris 2011, Anicka VAN EMDEN (Netherlands), winner of the Grand Prix Amsterdam 2011 and number 4 on the IJF ranking, lost to XU Lili, by ippon, after a throwing technique (Seoi Nage). The second semifinal was very tight. Finally, the Mongolian judoka TSEDEVSUREN Munkhzaya won by yuko against Alice SCHLESINGER (Israel).

Semifinals:

XU Lili (China) won against Anicka VAN EMDEN (Netherlands); 

TSEDEVSUREN Munkhzaya (Mongolia) won against Alice SCHLESINGER (Israel).

 The bronze medals were won by Alice SCHLESINGER (Israel) and Anicka VAN EMDEN (Netherlands). 

 Final:

XU Lili (China) won against TSEDEVSUREN Munkhzaya (Mongolia).

 Men’s -73 kg. Category: Number One Seed Takes Number One Spot

The Gold medalist of the Qingdao Grand Prix 2011 is WANG Ki-Chun (Korea). In a close fought final with NAKAMURA Takenori (Japan) the two athletes tested each other to the maximum. In the end, however, it was the Korean judoka, who won (yuko), with a neatly-timed throwing technique (Kouchi Gari) against the young Japanese athlete (22 years old).

In the first semifinal, the Silver medalist at the Beijing Olympic Games, WANG Ki-Chun, number 2 on the IJF World Ranking List (WRL), defeated SAINJARGAL Nyam-Ochir (Mongolia). In the other semifinal, Michael ELDRED (USA), lost by ippon, to NAKAMURA Takenori, who threw the American with blistering throwing technique (Seoi Nage).

 Semifinals:

WANG Ki-Chun (Korea) won against SAINJARGAL Nyam-Ochir (Mongolia);

Michael ELDRED (USA) lost by ippon to NAKAMURA Takenori (Japon).

 The bronze medals were won by Michael ELDRED (USA) and SAINJARGAL Nyam-Ochir (Mongolia).

 Final: WANG Ki-Chun (Korea) won by against NAKAMURA Takenori (Japon).

Women’s -70 kg. Category:Second Gold for China

The winner of the Women’s -70 kg Category is CHEN Fei (China). In the final, after a very exiting fight, in golden score, the Chinese judoka, CHEN Fei, won, by ipppon, after an immobilization technique-pin (Osae Komi/Yokoshi Hou Gatame) against the Korean judoka Seongyeon KIM.

 In the first semifinal, Erica BARBIERI (Italy), lost by ippon, after a throwing technique (Seoi Nage) to KIM Seongyeon (Korea). In the second semifinal, CHEN Fei, number 9 on the IJF WRL, won, after a hantei decision, in golden score, against her team mate YAO Yuting.

Semifinals:

KIM Seongyeon (Korea) won against Erica BARBIERI (Italy);

CHEN Fei (China) won by ippon against YAO Yuting (China).

 The bronze medals were won by Erica BARBIERI (Italy) and YAO Yuting (China).

 Final:

CHEN Fei (China) won against KIM Seongyeon (Korea).

Men’s -81kg. Category: First Gold for Japan

The Gold medalist of the Qingdao Grand Prix 2011 in the Men’s -81 kg. Category is NAGASHIMA Keita (Japan). The final was somewhat of a surprise as neither fighter could generate sufficient quality techniques to gain the score. Finally, NAGASHIMA Keita (Japan) ended up winner with Alain SCHMITT (France), having accumulated three shidos.

The first semifinal featuring the Russian judoka Ivan NIFONTOV, number 10 in IJF on the WRL, was abandoned due to the Russian having been injured in his quarterfinal match with Euan BURTON (Great Britain). This put NAGASHIMA Keita (Japan) into the final. In the other semifinal, Sirazhudin MAGOMEDOV (Russia), number 6 in IJF on the WRL, to Alain SCHMITT (France), by ippon, after a beautiful throwing technique (Seoi Nage). 

Semifinals:                                                                         

NAGASHIMA Keita (Japan) qualified for the final.  Ivan NIFONTOV (Russia) was injured previously ;

Alain SCHMITT (France) won, by ippon against Sirazhudin MAGOMEDOV (Russia).

 The bronze medals were won by Ivan NIFONTOV (Russia) and Sirazhudin MAGOMEDOV (Russia).

 Final: NAGASHIMA Keita (Japon) won against Alain SCHMITT (France).
